Trust and Provenance in the Semantic Web
نویسندگان
چکیده
The advent of Semantic Web has made a vast amount of machine understandable information available on the Web. The role of semantics in integrating this vast amount of heterogeneous and distributed data is critical to realizing actionable information.1 Given the open nature of standards and the low barriers associated with information publication, new techniques have to be employed to validate the quality of information. Knowledge of the source of information is always valuable in establishing the trust one can place on the information. However, only knowledge about the source of some information is of limited value if we cannot ascertain the trust we can associate with the content of the source, say content of a document. Lack of first hand information about the content of the source of some information brings in the notion of peer opinions or peer beliefs in the content and ones’ trust in peers.

AHP Techniques for Trust Evaluation in Semantic Web
The increasing reliance on information gathered from the web and other internet technologies raise the issue of trust. Through the development of semantic Web, One major difficulty is that, by its very nature, the semantic web is a large, uncensored system to which anyone may contribute. This raises the question of how much credence to give each resource. Each user knows the trustworthiness of ...

متن کاملTrust and Provenance You Can’t Have One Without The Other
On the social web content is no longer generated by a small number of established authorities but by a huge number of mostly anonymous users. On the semantic web new content is created by combining existing information from different sources on the fly. In both cases trust is of fundamental importance. Is the user providing new content trustworthy? How trustworthy is information inferred from s...
متن کاملCombining Provenance with Trust in Social Networks for Semantic Web Content Filtering
Social networks are a popular movement on the web. On the Semantic Web, it is simple to make trust annotations to social relationships. In this paper, we present a two level approach to integrating trust, provenance, and annotations in Semantic Web systems. We describe an algorithm for inferring trust relationships using provenance information and trust annotations in Semantic Web-based social ...

Social networks are a popular movement on the web. Trust can be used effectively on the Semantic Web as annotations to social relationships. In this paper, we present a two level approach to integrating trust, provenance, and annotations in Semantic Web systems. We describe an algorithm for inferring trust relationships using provenance information and trust annotations in Semantic Web-based so...
متن کاملProvenance: The Missing Component of the Semantic Web for Privacy and Trust
Data on the Semantic Web currently does not have any standardized or any de-facto agreed upon way to exhibit provenance information, yet provenance is the foundation for any reasonable model of privacy and trust. Yet, currently every RDF triple does not have any coherent way of storing provenance information on the Semantic Web. We present the hypothesis that provenance is by far the most impor...
